Kvass
Kvass is a traditional fermented Slavic drink made from rye bread with a low to no alcohol content.
Ingredients
- 330g white sugar
- 500g German style rye bread
- Bread yeast
- 5L water jug
Directions
- Toast the rye bread
- To a water jug add the toasted and sugar
- Fill the jug halfway with water
- Shake the jug to airate and mix the ingredients
- Fill the jug up the 5L line with water
- Add the yeast
- Cover the jug but do not seal and leave to ferment for at least 2 days
- After fermenting, filter off the sedement and bottle.
